Asst. Prof. Dr. Takashi Fukushima is a Specially Appointed Assistant Professor at Tokyo Gakugei University, Japan. His research focuses on sports informatics, performance analysis, and the application of artificial intelligence and markerless motion capture technologies in sports science and education. He investigates the validity and practical implementation of human pose estimation models for lower-body kinematics and movement analysis, while also developing innovative educational applications such as metaverse-based dance classes for physical education and AI-driven VR teaching materials for foreign language learning. Dr. Fukushima earned his Bachelor of Science in Fitness & Wellness Leadership from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 2019 and his Master of Science in Sports and Exercise Science from the Technical University of Munich in 2021, and he is currently completing his Ph.D. in Sports Informatics & Performance Analysis at the Technical University of Munich. He has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals, contributing to validation studies of pose estimation systems, multi-method 3D markerless motion capture, sensor-instrumented training, and applied biomechanics in both sports and clinical contexts. Actively engaged in the international research community, he regularly presents at major conferences in sports science, performance analysis, and computer science in sport, and continues to advance interdisciplinary collaborations that integrate AI, immersive technologies, and movement science to enhance sports performance and physical education.
